The last few minutes before leaving home can be busy: apply hand cream, finish your makeup, add perfume, then reach for a scarf.
A cashmere scarf sits close to the places where many of those products are used. A few small changes to the order of your routine can help keep its surface cleaner.
Leave the Scarf Until Last
Put on your DOMOG scarf after applying skincare, makeup and fragrance.
Allow products to settle and your skin to become dry to the touch before wrapping the fabric around your neck. There is no single waiting time that suits every formula; the practical goal is to avoid transferring wet or oily residue directly onto the scarf.
Clean, dry hands matter too, especially after using hand cream.
Apply Fragrance to Yourself
Avoid spraying perfume directly onto cashmere.
Fragrance formulas vary, and direct application may leave residue, create a mark or affect the appearance of some fabrics and dyes. A scent that seems colourless in the bottle should not be treated as a fabric-safe spray.
Apply fragrance before putting on your scarf, away from where the fabric is laid out. Let it dry before dressing.
Watch the Collar Contact Points
Foundation and tinted skincare can transfer gradually where a scarf touches the jawline or collar.
You may not notice the first contact. Check these areas occasionally, particularly on pale colours, rather than waiting until a mark has been repeatedly rubbed into the surface.
When removing your scarf, unwrap it gently. Pulling it tightly across your face can spread makeup onto a larger area.
If Something Transfers, Avoid Rubbing
If you notice a fresh mark, stop handling the area unnecessarily.
For excess liquid, gently blot with a clean white absorbent cloth. Do not scrub, twist the fabric or use a coloured tissue that might transfer dye.
Makeup wipes, hand sanitiser and household stain removers are not substitutes for the product’s care instructions. Their ingredients may leave additional residue or affect the colour.
For oily cosmetics, persistent marks or an uncertain stain, consult a professional cleaner experienced with cashmere. Explain what caused the mark and show them the care label.
Fresh Air Is Better Than More Fragrance
After wearing, lay the scarf loosely in a dry, ventilated place away from direct heat and strong sunlight.
If it has picked up a perfume scent, avoid masking it with another spray. Airing may help, but persistent odour or visible residue may require cleaning according to the label.
Make Care Part of Getting Dressed
Looking after cashmere begins before laundry day.
For a DOMOG scarf, a simple sequence works well: finish your skincare and fragrance, let them settle, wash or wipe away excess product from your hands, and wrap your scarf last.
